Ever heard of Slippery Elm? I take it whenever my stomach is inflamed, but it does more than just calm the stomach.
Slippery elm is a tree, and the inner bark (not the whole bark) has been shown to treat a number of digestive issues. What makes it so great? It contains mucilage, a substance that becomes a slick gel when mixed with water. This mucilage coats and soothes the mouth, throat, stomach and intestines
It’s also been know to help:
• Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)
• Crohns disease
• UlcerativeColitis
• Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)
• Diverticulitis
• Diarrhea
You can find it in capsule or powder form (I prefer the powder as shown) at most health food stores or online retailers. Here is a good one. Mix it with water or a spoon of honey, but make sure to take it on an empty stomach and 1 hour before/after taking other meds or herbs.
